History

Assistance League® of Orange Auxiliary, an Auxiliary of the Santa Ana Chapter, was formed in February 1941 with twenty-four Active and eight Sustaining Members.  The first Chairman was Mrs. Justus Craemer and the first meetings were held at the Girl Scout House or in members' homes.  In June 1950, chapter status, which required a minimum of fifty (50) Active Members,  was granted to Assistance League® of Orange by National Assistance League®.

Assisteens® of Orange Auxiliary was formed in 1967, with a charter membership of 27 young women.  It is open to children and grandchildren of chapter members in Grades 8 through 12.  Over the years these energetic teens have become increasingly involved in chapter activities as well as their own projects.   Assisteens strive to further community service as they follow Assistance League ideals.

Professional Auxiliary, orginally named for a special Life Member of the chapter, is comprised of professional women employed 20 or more hours per week, former Assisteens, and students pursuing a college curriculum.  Professional Auxiliary was formed in 1985 with 26 charter members and was certified at the National  Assistance League convention in 1986 as one of the earliest professional auxiliaries.  The members extend the philanthropic service and fundraising efforts of the chapter through programs adapted to their busy schedules.

Orange Blossoms, formed in 2005, the 25-charter members range in age from high school graduates to thirty-five years of age. Orange Blossoms were established to encourage young adults in various professions to contribute by identifying and serving those in need in the community. Open membership allows one to join throughout the year.
